Whatido????? How was your weekend? Hope you had fun. I am continuing the ajuwaya/nysc mini series today. Don’t forget to drop a comment and share your experiences. biko it is fiction o. Most of the scenarios are not real….. please, enjoy.
When I drove into the NYSC orientation camp in a tinted G-wagen, I got the exact accolade I planned on getting. The fact that I managed to get an army sticker for my car was not a bad move either. Kubwa camp is in trouble! I drove unto the camp and I was ushered into a very nice parking spot; I had waited on the queue outside for about two hours but it was a small price to pay for the greater good. I finished my registration in about thirty minutes and I got a room all to myself while others had to continue their registration the next day.
I know you are wondering how it happened. Well, I happen to have the same surname as one of the most influential men in my country. All I had to do was whisper to one of the soldiers who my ‘father’ was right after slipping two one thousand naira notes into his pocket for his help. The news spread faster than I thought and suddenly everyone was doing everything for me. I kept my cool and acted the part extremely well. When I got to my room, I began to plan my activities.
The next day I went to a canteen and just as I ordered, a guy came to join me. He said that he wanted to be my friend and boy. This was funny seeing as I used to be the ‘boy’ back in school. I smiled and said he could be my friend. He paid for the meal then and for most of what I ‘bought’ till the end of camp. As a matter of fact, the only thing I used my money for was dash the soldiers once in a while. I actually didn’t have any money but of course no one knew that. I was too frosh to be broke.
I graduated from the prestigious Arab Open University of Kuwait; on scholarship. No one knew about the scholarship part of course. I was especially glad that no one from my uni was in my camp, yawa for gas. I was the only Nigerian in my grad class so I was relaxed. To say I enjoyed my orientation experience is an understatement! Apart from the free booze and special treatment I got, the girls were throwing themselves at me too. I made sure that I didn’t hang out with the real big boys so that my yansh won’t be open.
I only attended morning parades when I wanted to hunt 😉 That was when I saw the girls in all their glory. hehehe. I was one of the finest boys in camp, no doubt. My steady camp babe was one of the hottest girls in camp. She was always trying to lay claim even though she snatched me from her room mate. She contested for the miss NYSC title and won. My highlight was when she came to kiss me on the lips after she was crowned winner.I knew she was doing it so that the other girls will back off but I was only interested in the rep it gave me.
My borrowed car was a chalet for my girls and I. There was a hostel close to the parade ground that had about two rooms turned into guest rooms fa! Those boys were cray; they gave up their rooms just because they wanted money. They charged two thousand naira for an hour and they had a lot of customers.
The Kubwa camp, Abuja has to be the most lenient camp. They weren’t sure of who anyone was so the camp officials were humble. We had a cultural parade instead of the regular endurance trek; you should have seen the things that people wore; straws, brooms, attachments and more hideous things. It was a very hilarious day.
My platoon members begged me to contest for Mr NYSC but of course I declined, even though I needed the promised cash price. Turns out that the money part was a scam though. Patoranking was the guest artiste and he turned the camp upside down!
The only thing I participated in was football, I was made the platoon captain not because I was popular but because I was a good player. We won every match we played and this endeared us to the camp director. He promised to post us to the best places and he did just that! That was the only thing I actually worked for while in camp.
The one thing that I did in camp that I regretted was sleep with my boy’s babe. I knew that she started having something with him because she wanted to be close to me but that is not enough reason. He doesn’t know and left to me he will never find out but I still feel terrible. I know I was seduced but then she didn’t force me. Oh well, who can resist this -_-
Today is the last day of camp. I am glad everything went well. I can finally return my cousin’s car and start my life. I hope I am the only person that was posted to my place of primary assignment though, I can’t keep up with these lies. My name is Fawad and this was a summary of my orientation camp experience.
